What is the function of the little button that sits between my flash posts and my shutter cock? Ihave a Kodak Ektar 127mm lens.

That is the "press focus" button. If you cock the shutter, press the button, then fire the shutter the lens will stay open. This is to allow focusing through the lens without having to set shutter speed to T or B and then back to shooting speed.

Yippee!!! It was getting tedious moving that dial back and forth, now I can set up and shoot again in a lot less time.
Do I cock the shutter and release it to close the lens?
Thanks Dan |

Cock the shutter, press the button down and with it pressed, trip the shutter.
To close the lens, cock the shutter.
the design is that the button throws a lever inside to 'catch' the shutter cocking lever in mid exposure. |
