Pondering the instructions for taking time-lapse pics: Did anyone ever find a good way to mount a cable release to these?
(FWIW, mine appears to have an issue following those instructions; a second press of the shutter release does not seem to close the curtain after opening it at T. I s'pose I could just lower the mirror again as a cover, then wind the curtain back to a cocked position, or do the old uncover/cover the lens routine; on really long exposures a bit of fumbling makes little difference.)
We do have the Perseid meteor shower coming up soon, and this year there won't be moonlight to compete with it; prediction is up to 50 per hour. Of course in my area skyglow and weather conspire against observing the sky, but it's on my list of things to try at some point. _________________ () | ASCII Text Campaign

Graflex shutter operating states that with the curtain at O (back of the lens visible) the curtain should close and lock with the tension on 1. Lock means the wind key will not turn opposite the arrow.
With the tension set to its highest the curtain should wind and lock at the smallest aperture.
If the first condition is not met the shutter needs servicing.
If the second condition is not meet then the initial tension is too high.

Before attempting servicing increase the tension to a higher number before winding to T and find the tension at which the curtain closes properly. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
