Hi All,
I've been enjoying my speed graflex and aero ektar combination but have been running into issues with too much light for f2.5 even with the 1/1000th shutter speed as my meter is telling me 1/4000+ on a sunny day.
I've tried pulling a roll of tmax400 but haven't tried with Arista EDU.
How many stops do you think I could get away with? if I tried pulling? |

I have no good way of telling that the shutter speed is off, it has purely been the case where I've chosen to not take shots due to conditions.
this shot here was 1/500th and came out fine (excluding my development issue I figured out on another thread)

I have a NISI 100x100mm holder along with a couple ND filters but haven't tried to get a ring on the front of the aero ektar. I'll see if I have a ring which would work.
I was thinking in a perfect world pulling 2 stops I could cheat near 1/4000s.
We are heading to Acadia National park for a long weekend, I'll shoot a developing batch of 3 holders 2 stops over as a test. |

https://silvergrainclassics.com/en/2020/06/introducing-the-photoplug-easy-shutter-speed-testing-for-your-smartphone/
After testing several FPS on 4x5 Speed Graphics I found that a sensor at the center of the film plane will read the speed accurately. I had a homemade tester using infrared led that required a powered mic jack on the computer to work.
I recently built one using a battery holder and 4K ohm resistor from ebay and a SHF 310 photo transistor from Mouser.com.
I can email you the diagram I used as its no longer on the net.
The tester uses https://www.audacityteam.org/ recording program. The accuracy is based on the photo transistor/diode 's rise/fall time which is 8 microseconds. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

... using Audacity as a poor man's memory oscilloscope. Nice solution! _________________ () | ASCII Text Campaign
