| Can this be used on the Crown Graphic Special with the 135mm Xenar lens with the pc sync or can you only use more modern flashes like the Vivitar 285 or Sunpak 522? |

While I'm not familiar with your lens/shutter unit I can say that the 3 cell Graflite can be used with any between the lens elements shutter that can be set to "M" sync, for any shutter speed and for "X" sync shutters at slow enough speeds for the flash bulb to reach full illumination before the shutter starts to close. (Aprox. 1/25-1/30 of a second)
The Vivitar 285, the Sunpak 522 and other electronic flashes almost always require "X" sync as that does not trip the flash until the shutter is almost completely open as electronic flashes have an extremely short period of illumination that would be gone by the time an "M" sync shutter was fully open.
