Will the Grafmatic 23 work with a spring-back Miniature Speed Graphic? Or will its thickness permanently bend the focusing panel springs? I've used the Grafmatic with my Century Graphic with the Graflok back; however, I'm half afraid to try it with the Miniature Speed Graphic's spring-back...... |

Any format, if there is not enough movement in the springs the grafmatic will not go in and seat in the light trap grove. If there is enough spring travel the grafmatic will be very snug and there will be just enough give to allow the light trap rib to be released from the light trap grove.
The danger of using a grafmatic in a spring back is the grafmatic may come out of the light trap during the cycling of the grafmatic. Care must be taken to pull straight out on the grafmatic when cycling.
Now if the springs do not have enough travel or the grafmatic fits very tight then remove the spring retaining screws, place a flat washer between the back and the spring then reinstall the spring retaining screws. You may have to replace the retaining screws with longer ones. The screws are common machine thread. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
