Can someone explain why a person would put 7 sets of infinity stops on a 4x5 Speed Graphic and remove the rangefinder? Also I noticed he separated the bed where the smaller end part connects to the larger bed. I bought it on the bay so I don't know who did this.

Seven is a lot. But infinity stops serve three purposes.
The obvious one is to position the front standard with lens so that the RF can be made to work with the lens. The nearly obvious one is to position the front standard with lens so that there's as much focusing travel as possible. And the third is to do at least one of the first two and make the front standard parallel to the film plane.
I don't know why anyone would unlink the inner and outer bed rails. Linking the rails makes focusing a lens that makes infinity with the front standard on the inner rails much easier. |

I am sure there will be people interested in some of your infinity stops...
For beginning - I might be in 1-2 sets if priced nicely _________________ Milos Gazdic | www.hirtc.com |
