I might have saved an original Graflex flash from the SW hackers last night. Look at item # 110416489125 on 'that auction site' if you want to see it before the listing is removed. Please forgive me if I out-bid one of you, but I wasn't about to take a chance on letting this one get hacked. I'm sure that if a SW fan won it the box and reflectors would end up in a landfill.

Yes I know, I paid too much for it, but at least it will spend the rest of its days doing service as a flash on the side of a 2x3 Pacemaker instead of living in a fantasy world.

Update on the flash:

Got the flash in the mail the other day and although not exactly as described (obviously not "new and unused"), it is clean and works great; even the focusing bulb still works.

As we speak, it is resting quietly on the side of the 2x3 with a #5 in the bay ready for lift-off. ( had to put a little dig in there for the S/W fans)

It was only a 2 cell. You didnt "save" anything. Theres no "hacking up" involved in converting a flash.

I have seen more than one Graflex Flash with holes drilled in it and being offered on eBay. In my opinion, some people are willing to molest these things.

If it weren't for sci-fi fans, these flashes would be in a landfill and even more difficult to acquire than they already are. The only reason they hold any value at all is because of SW fans.

I doubt very seriously that they would be in a landfill. Just look at all the Kodak and Kalart flashes four sail on we-pay. Much less collectible and always available. The only reason Graflex flashes are OVERPRICED, not "holding value", is because of sw fans!

Put THAT in your #5 socket and smoke it!

When I saw the very first Star Wars it was at a mall, small screen theater, made me want to see it on a big screen. As it turned out I was projectionist at the local drive in and upset the patrons when I waited until twilight to start the movie one night. That made me think it would have been nice to see it in 3D. I gave it a 2 1/2 stars rating overall as the story was the same old worn out good vs evil that Hollywood keeps recycling and a the special effects had a few flaws. I did not bother to watch any of the rest of the series until they were on TV for the third or fourth time and absolutely nothing else was on to watch.
I was a doorman at the local indoor theater during high school and many business owners and political leaders thought I was quoting a published critic when they asked about a movie, but I wasn't.

Meg Whitman ruined ebay by making it an over priced strip mall.
I use Graflex Corp. equipment as it 1. fits my budget and 2. fits my needs. I do repair work on cameras as I am a very good technician. I do not care what you do with your equipment including chocking yourself to death with it or giving yourself a rectal massage with it.
Do not waste your time asking me to turn it into something it was not made for.
