The cloth hinges on some of my baby film holders are starting to fatigue and separate. There are no light leaks so far but the flaps are becoming very loose. Is there a replacement tape or fabric available today for this purpose ? |

George;
If I recall correctly there was a post on this in either "Film Help" or "Accessories Help" a while back. I couldn't find it with a quick look so it is not on the first (most recent) page of either forum but you might find it with the search function.

I have used Graffers Tape successfully before but Book Binders Tape is reported to be better. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Thanks guys. Had a 2" roll of gaffers tape in the light kit but thought it would be too thick. I cut it in half length wise with a razor and it actually works OK. The flaps open almost fully and the film slides in fairly easily. Not a perfect solution but good enough until I get a roll of that book binders tape.
BTW: The film holders in question are wood no name. They even have wood side rails. I guess they're older. The Fidelity and Graphic film holders although mostly wood are far superior and the hinges are still in good condition.
While I'm on this film holder subject how many of you actually use those dark slide locking tabs ? I hate them so I unscrew or clip them off. |

I do when they work, loose ones that can't be tightned to stay put I disable. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
