What filter would I need to use a GE #11 flashbulb with daylight color negative film? I'm going to use 400 speed in an RH8 on my Century.....
Thanks in advance....

Clear shields were made for reflectors to prevent exploding bulbs from spraying hot glass onto people. The shields were also made in a blue color for using clear flashbulbs with color film. Using a blue shield and blue bulbs together with color film may result in blue cast on the image.

Good advice there. But be advised that some information on that page is woefully outdated: case in point, see the General Electric #5 bulb. They are no longer "readily found" at any price, much less $10/dz. I'm sure most of us regulars on the board already know this only too well, but others should not get their hopes up! (He smugly states, having 93 #5 and #5B bulbs stockpiled; remember when you could walk into KMart and get 'em for under $3.00/dz?) |

I remember when a chain grocery store in Missouri (new location of Schnuck's) had GE 5B's (the last ones made, packaged in a blister pack) for $7.00 a package at their grand opening in their 1-hour photo department and they never, never sold. They were in a clearance isle for $1 per package several years later I grabbed them. I used them all for train night shots...... |

You win the Smart Shopper Award, Jim! And I'd like to see some of those train pictures.
The KMart 5Bs I have are Sylvanias in a bubble pack. I shot off three of the dozen bulbs in the pack, which is downstairs in a box with my other bulbs, and I'm too lazy to leave the Eagles-Giants game and go down and check the price tag---but I'm pretty sure it was $2-and-something-cents. |
