Since I haven't had a job in a year, I decided to sell off some of my toys including cameras to make ends meet. That includes bag mags, Grafmatic magazines, and cameras and lenses.
I came across one of my Series D's that had a home made strap on the top with the initials C B S stamped in it. I bought about a dozen cameras from Cliff Scofield maybe 20 years ago. At that time, he wouldn't talk on the phone much. He preferred to write snail mail letters, so that is what we did. The last time we wrote was about 1995. I think he was still making post cards at the time.
We wrote about him taking pictures with a graflex that had just come out in about 1920 while he was in college in Canada.
I've gone through and set aside his cameras to keep. They include a 3x4 Super D, a type "O", an RB with the scooped front and a 3A among others. I wish I could have kept all my stuff, but at least these I could because they were special.
I hadn't talked to him in years, and since seeing his cameras I looked him up and found that he had passed away. It was neat that I knew him. Hope y'all knew him too.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I'm glad you're keeping his gear. It's sad that so much history gets lost when things like this happen. You are to be commended. _________________ Glenn
