Dear all,

I have some questions about the recessed lens board for the Graphic View.

For what kind of lenses do you use this? 90mm and smaller?

Can you still use a cable release? And can you still attach a flash?

A 90mm lens may not need a recessed board but shorter lenses would, I'm pretty sure. I've never used a Graphic View. Recessed boards have their own unique problems. You would need a 90° adapter for your cable release. Shutter controls can be very hard, or impossible, to get to. It depends on the size of the individual shutter and the depth of the recess. In short, they work but they can be a real pain.

#its not what kind of lenses you can use ! its more to do with the size of the shutter!
and how it lead out !
# to use a cable release you may need to get a 90* adapter put it on before you mount the shutter and leave it .

#to use a flash is in how it plugs in on the shutter ! on a bypost you
may need to put the flash cord on it then mount the shutter in the recessed lens board
& leave it. on some you may just need to take off the front lens to plug the cord & then
put the lens back on(like a 90mm super angulon)

PS I will look at some of my lens / shutter & get back here as I just got a recessed lens board for my GV2 not yet pick out a lens for it.
but it will be easer then my cc400 was , its not as deep!!

#1 now my 100mm Kodak Wide Field Ektar has bypost other wise it would work great
with a 90° adapter for your cable release.
#2 my 90mm Angulon is on #0 has a pc Now it mite be easer to leave a short cord on
it too and a 90° adapter for your cable release.
#3 my Hugo Meyer 3 1/8" (80mm) IT"s a #1 shutter IT WILL NOT GO IN!!!
#4 & #5 are both Super Angulons one is a #00 shutter the other is a #0 shutter
HOW both will work BUT the #00 has more room for you to plug in you flash &
more room for you to use cable release with out an adapter

I've never seen a 90° adapter for a cable release, and I'm having trouble imagining how one would work, mechanically speaking. Can you post a link?

90° adapter for a cable release it just work as does a cable release
it just give you easier way , you put it on the shutter then put the shutter
in to the recessed board & mount then you can just screw in you
cable release, leaving 90° adapter on the shutter. they also have
other adapter that you can use U Hook Adapter , SWIVELLING ADAPTER
most of my cable release will not work with a recessed board they don't
bend tight enough to get in to the shutter and the end is also to long

Calumet used to sell cable releases with a very short, fixed tip just for this reason, now it seems they sell this adapter for any cable release.

From a quick look at the files, min ext. 3 1/4", 2 11/16" (68mm)with recessed lensboard. Sooo that sounds like a 100mm WF ektar goes on a flat board and the 90mm WA Optar goes on the recessed board, and 65mm goes on the Crown Graphic.

I know some point in time that an adapter like that mite have been made
I just have never seen one . do you know who made them??

hey Pelle I mist one of my lens that work good in a recessed lens board
as mine don't work good as its missing cable release port.
but as you can see in Les PIC 90mm Optar &/or Raptar can be use too

that's a graflex catalog pic. back in the day I think they were about 80cents. I had to buy a 65mm optar to get mine.
