I shipped in a Graflex from the US to U.K.
The lensboard has snapped and the lens has fallen through into the body of the camera smashing the mirror and ground/focusing glass.
I need a new lens panel, mirror and gg
How difficult are these things to gind fit and replace.

Well the ground glass isn't that hard to find and now that the old mirror broke you can upgrade to a front surface mirror that will be brighter and more contrasty. An original board my be hard to find, but a piece of plywood cut to the right size and painted black will work.
i could give you contacts but they would be stateside and there's got to be that stuff over there.
Send me a private message with your email address (there's a link button on the top right side of this page) I'll pass it on to some of my UK friends.

My smashed up graflex D is progressing slowly
The lensboard problem seems solved.
The ground glass is solved
The problem is the mirror
How thin ought it to be
Problem is with 2,3mm glass the mirror wont flick up all the way
How does the mirror assembly work?
Is their a spring(?)that can be tensioned.
How do you get to it.
Is their a workaround for the heaviness of mirror glass.
Thanks

Did you manage with all this back then? I have replaced both GG and mirror on my Series D. Unfortunately the shutter broke, so ... _________________ Too old to die young |
