Moving along on my GV2 resto.
The massive play between the monorail and the clamps come from not having the "focusing clamp wedge shim" listed in the service manual.
Can someone tell me what material this is made of? Cardboard, metal, rubber? Apparently, it was glued to the clamp and is allowed to slide along the monorail.
Thanks!

I don't know what the shim is made out of, and I hope someone can give me a decent answer. In the meantime, I've used a piece of index card stock, cut to size and folded to fit the V shaped monorail. Works great. |

I'm off hunting Speed Graphic cameras at the moment so I don't have my notes with me, but it was an oil impregnated heavy paper. Not all cameras had them, it was a production change, but I think a manila folder soaked in either Parafin/benzene or a light weight oil (SAE 10?) would probably work. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |
