|
|
Hello all,
I am a new owner of the GVII, in good condition but a bit jiggly. The previous owner must have been a leftie, as the focus knobs have been switched around.
After learning a great deal on this board (read: everything I know) about this camera, I find that I'm missing 3 of the left-threaded retaining screws on the standards. Will this adversely affect the stability of the camera? (certainly when the knobs roll away!) Has anyone found a good source for the left-threaded screws or do they need to be custom machined?
Thanks in advance, and thank you for an outstanding source of information.

Hello,
I guess that everyone that owns a GVII is on vacation in some warm and sunny place.
Have you tried Fred Lustig, 4790 Caughlin Parkway #433, Reno, NV 89519
775-746-0111?
Previous posts suggest that you call him in the afternoon Reno time.
Searching for "Fred Lustig" will bring up some posts relating to him and his inventory of Graflex parts.
Hope this helps. |

I found my answer at Michael S. Crowell's very informative website here:
http://www.waterbirch.com/photo/graphicview/graphicview.htm
He says:
The real purpose of the retainer screws was to limit the movement of the control knobs. A broken retainer screw doesn't affect a control knob's functionality, but in theory it means that the knob can unscrew and become lost.
I would like to replace them, I'll give your suggestion a try. Thanks!
