I have a Schneider-Kreuznach Symmar Synchro Compur Lens Serial#5902426 with 1:5.6/210 written in white on the lens, and 1:12/370 written in green. I know what the white denotes, but what does the green information mean?
My other question is this...I don't know much of anything about these types of lenses but something seems unusual. When I set the shutter speed below 50, the shutter never seems to close all the way. It's like it gets stuck. I have to take my finger and gently flip it back around. It makes the usual fast mechanical-clicking noise, slows down and
stops. Sometimes it closes faster than others.
When I sync my flash to it on those slower shutter speeds, and release the shutter, the flash will go off about 5 or 6 seconds after I initially release the shutter.
What could be wrong? Can it be fixed? How much? Is it time for a new lens? The optical quality of this lens is absoultely astounding...just a little tough controlling the exposure.
many thanks |

It is a convertiable lens. Removing the rear element (I think) gives the higher numbers.
It's due for a Clean, lube, adjust (CLA).
Lots of info in this section about how to do it yourself (must be mechanically inclinded if disassembling) and sources for pro service. Happy reading.

Nope, you gotta remove the FRONT cell, so the diaphragm covers the single element thereby reducing flare.
and yes it's best not to do this while photographing a windfarm in the California desert. |

Thanks for the correction, I haven't used my 150's yet but think that a little salt water will be good for them.

Thank all of you for the incredibly quick and accurate response. I'll take a look back in the lens section to find a pro that can do this - if I can afford it.
Otherwise, I'll just take alot of calm, sunny, mid-day shots. |
