Hi I was given a old box of 4x5 Ilford Oryho Plus B&W copy film. I tried to fine info on the Ilford site but very vage.What is meant be copy film and well this film produce a negative I can work with in an enlarger?

Thank you for the link but I hate to sound dumb but still is this film for general shooting or just to shoot another print? or is it to be used to make contact prints of another neg or what? The discription is there but not spasivic enouth for a new be to 4x5.

The film is probably pretty much like FP4, except for the different colour response.
I have been using a ortho type 4x5 sheet film for some pretty landscape shots and the lack of red sensitivity hasn't been a serious issue.
Look at the technical information and just use it to familiarise yourself with exposing and developing before you shoot anything important.

The dev time is just a little short of that for FP4. I, personally use Rodinal diluted 1:50. I get the Calbe R09, which is the original formula for Rodinal. The stuff lasts for ages and is used diluted 1:25, 1:50 or 1:100.
For your first try at developing 4x5 stick with ID11. Whether you develope in a tray, tank or drum use a pre-wash of water at 20C.
How do you plan to develope the film?

Howdy. Thanks for all the replies.Since this is my first foray into 4x5 I was going to use ID-11 since I use all ilford B&W film and Chems and than see what T MAX looks like since I do like the results I can get with it to.

Primus: what has been your experience with the R09 / Rodinal kept in a partial bottle? Surely it deteriorates after a year or so.

maybe this gives me hope that my batch of sealed Edwal FG-7 is worth trying, just for fun. I bottled it in 1972. Pity is that Panatomic-X is no longer around for me to use with it.

I don't let R09 mature like wine!
We are talking a couple of months time scale.
The sorts of dilutions I use means that I dont go through vast amounts of it developing sheet film.
My tank takes 1600ml developing one sheet or 12 so I wait till I have a half load minimum.

I also use my concentrate developers slowly, and large bottles of developers bought for economy can just go bad on the shelf after being opened.

The tip is to open the bottle and immediately decant it into a set of smaller bottles that each can be used in a realistic amount of time. If you are lucky, the local pharmacist will sell you small brown glass bottles to use; about 4 ounces would do. For those near a Container Store, I believe they also have such bottles. The last time I was there they even had gallon brown glass bottles.
