Hello,
I recently bought a 5x7 Bag Mag for my Press Graflex, but of course it turned out to be designed for the Graflex back, and not the pin and spring type needed for the Press.
I was curious if anyone knew how often the proper bag mag for this camera turns up *******? I am debating on modifying this one to work with my camera - but I hate to since it is in relatively good shape. If anyone has modified one to work, I would be interested in hearing how to do it.
Also, I am curious how to identify the proper 5x7 film holders for this camera? Modern 5x7 cut film holders work well, but I must center it by eye while inserting them as they are not as wide as the holder opening on the camera.
Were the original cut film holders the wider graflex type with the slot in the top and bottom, or some other type?
Thank you for your assistance.

The correct bag mag for the Press Graflex is something of a rarity, but I have a plate mag with film sheaths in the plate septums and a film mag, so they made both of them. It sounds like you know what they should look like. Get whatever you can find, but the film mags are lighter and more compact. The plate mag must have weighed a ton loaded with 12 plates.
The proper filmholders are indeed the wider Graflex type with the slots, but you won't actually use the slots. |
