I bought this lens with the hopes of using it on my speed graphic.

I will read was is enscribed along the rim of the lens.
Bausch & Lomb Opt. Co Rochester, NY USA
then has a yellow dot and a purple dot
Tessar IC 190mm E.F f/4.5 LF3508

I can see one problem with the lens. It has a rainbow like pattern on the rear element. It was mentioned that the glue was coming loose on the glass...

Will this affect photo quality on B&W? (I don't do color)

Can I also use this as an enlarging lens?
or will the above problem affect photos?

If the rear elements are seperating, then yes that will effect the image--TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU USE THAT PART OF THE LENS.

If the the separation is a few millimeters from the edge, then stopping the lens down will eliminate the problem.

At this point test the lens at 4.5 5.6 8 11 & 16 and look at the negs with a loupe. The proof is in the pudding

It is not on the edge.. maybe it really isn't "separation"

where can I forward a pic too? I took a digital last night.

Is this lens worth messing with?? I paid $8 for it..

While it may not have been the perfect place to load photos of the lens in question,I don't see what the big deal is either.

But I also don't see the pics of the Tessar lensr. The last series of photos I get to load are the travel pics, the last being of the boats, but nothing more, and with a 56k modem running 48K it took several minutes to get that far

Let me work on getting a separate page for the lens.

I also have a shutter I have questions on.. I will put them on a different page..

the lens was in the middle before the "travel" pics.

it shows the bottom view so it is hard to see if it is a lens.

The "big deal" is that with image number 2 the caption reads "All leather is intact, no rips or tears. Tripod mount threads are good!!" Image no. 4 reads "SRT 101 with Mirror Lock-up and DOF preview. EX++". Image no. 5 reads "152mm, 135mm, 127mm in lensboard All are ******* 135 mm comes with camera." If this isn't a blatant sales pitch, there was no Chicago Fire. As I said before, peddle your wares on eBay, NOT on the Helpboard!

Looks like the censor got to "f-o-r s-a-l-e" in the sentence "All are *******." Too bad the filter doesn't work on attachments.

It looks like halations on the coating-- the same effect as a star filter to a degree.
It may also be the begining of separartion. I had a 162 Optar that had concentric dark rings in the rear element and a bit of difraction like yours. I never shot it so I can't say what the effect was.

I still say you'll get much more accurate information by testing the lens. It may be that it will effect color more than B&W. It may also turn out to be a very good portrait lens.

Is this lens worth the money to buy a new rear element?

Is it worthwhile to use it as an enlarging lens for 4X5?

I plan on shooting it soon...
