I just purchased a 2X3 Speed Graphic with a Graflok back. Now I want to get a roll film back for it but when I look at the ones on OBoy I can't tell whether they will fit a 2X3, a 4X5 or what. Can anyone tell me how to distinguish between them if there really is a difference? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the listings will tell what size camera the roll film holder will fit, or you can ask the seller to be sure. I have the "22" Graphic for 2X2 negs..."23" for 2X3 negs...and the RH 10 for 6X7cm negs. Although the box says GRAFLEX in large type, they are GRAPHIC film holders, and will fit your Graflok back. If there are photos with the listing, it's fairly easy to tell if the dark slide is the same approximate size as the body of the unit. If so, it's a 2X3. They use 120 film. Fred.

Thank you Fred, I appreciate your help. I sort of thought it would be something like this. I don't always have 100% confidence in what the seller says. Sometimes I don't think they know what they are talking again.

The roll holder is the same for all formats,2x3,3x4,4x5, cameras byt the outter shell gets extensions to keep the film opening centered on the format. The picture in the top left of this site link is of such a roll film back.

There were two series of holders made. Commonly called the Knob wind and the lever wind.

In general the lever wind holders are better, will keep the film flatter, etc.

If you can go to a show and try it, most of the original Mamiya RB 67 backs will fit most of the 2x3 Graphic cameras. The ones that miss, miss by a small fraction. These are much better than any Graflex holder.

For what it's worth, I've been very satisfied with the performance of my Graflex Graphic 22 and 23 roll film holders. I especially like the Graflex/General Precision RH10, because its neg size is more proportionate for enlarging to 8X10, and, of course, you get 10 shots per roll of 120. Fred.

Thanks again to everyone for your help. Recently retired, I am going back to using a Speed Graphic with B&W film only after not touching one for 45 years. Unfortunately, I have forgotten most of what I knew about Speed Graphics. Needless to say I am going to need a lot of help before this is over.

Welcome back to the World of Graphics,Gary...that's what I like to hear,it's not being put away in a glass case to look at,that's for museums to do,but being used like the old workhorse should..

...and remember your pictures will be FAR superior to anything anyone else shoots,standard or digital cameras.

They know this-but would be affaid to acknowledge it.
