The album on Flickr of my first shots.
The Kalart seems set up just fine.
The roll back gave pretty OK spacing, I did learn I have to advance more leader -- well past the arrows as I was used to. The first shot I actually snapped was pretty much off target and not hitting the film itself.
I also experimented with the focal plane shutter. Seemed a bit slow. It was set for speed of 500 and f4.5. Since I hadn't changed the focus the result was an out of focus wooden eagle. The house numbers were since I had used them for focus.
The next shot was lost (blank) because I forgot to set the FPS back to O and used the lens shutter.
All and all a great learning experience.

With an empty take up spool in the holder and the frame lock released or the frame counter at the end of a roll hold the take up spool stationary while attempting to turn the wind knob/lever. If it turns the wind key is stripped.

Likely that will help all my B&W. I'm doing 9.5 minutes in D76 stock. Maybe another minute will help.
I'm paying more attention to the temperature lately. All my thermometers give different temps so I'm sticking with one - a Weber probe as it gives quick results and can change up or down quickly. I don't know whether it is hot or cold.

Put all thermometers in the same container of water, the two or more that agree or are within 1° of one another are probably correct. 2°F in processing temperature will be more than 10% change in developing time, check tech pub J-78 http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/j78/j78.pdf

The Weber and the 30 centimeter long EKCo agree within 1 or 2 tenths.
My New Years Resolution is more agitation - I've been too gentle.
My stainless steel tank can be inverted and I'm hardly doing any tilt at all.

I found a gg for what I thought was a favorable price on the 'Bay.
Did the Miniature Speed Graphic ever have a back setup that had a ground glass and then the sheet film inserted so a picture could be taken?
Since the ground glass would be at the same plane as the sheet film, the glass would have to be removed and the sheet film holder mounted. Then snap the picture.
I'm just not finding pictures showing how that would be done. Even the 4X5 model descriptions or pictures leave that out.

GG arrived today putting all my questions to rest.
The brackets that hold the gg are basically springs! Focus on the ground glass, on inserting the sheet film holder between the camera body and the gg assembly the spring brackets allow the insertion. Now the film is on the same plane that the gg was. Set shutter, remove dark slide and take the picture. No more mystery.
