I've got a Rh-50 coming my way. I've got 100feet of 70mm film. I don't have any cassettes. Anybody know of a source of reasonable priced ones?

Ya know, that's a good question? I never paid attention to it because I had no interest in a 70mm back. Doesn't look like it does it? Maybe we could get Harry to comment?

No, it is not a Graflex back. This is a Keith back which happens to fit a Graphic camera. The backs offered by Graflex were made for either XL or 4x5 use accepting only the 15 ft. cassettes. You'll note from the loading instructions this back accepts the long [100 ft.] rolls. These backs for designed for uses like school photography, etc.

The Graflex backs are much more compact.

And it looks like if I unscrew the ground glass from the back I can rig something up to make it fit the camera. Not going to be quick to use but then that's okay.

The Keith roll film magazine may be used on any camera equipped with a 4" x 5" Graflok back or a back which accepts 4 x 5 Graflok accessories. The take-up spool for my Keith is 93mm diameter ends, 24mm diameter take-up dimension and 70mm wide. The spool is made by Kodak, Kodak Film No. 10 Spool-70mm.
B.H. Photo still has the film. I suggest you call them to find out who develops that size film and call them for an extra spool or cassette. Also, try your local area.

Kodak is also a possibility. They are out there because someone is using the 70mm film!

The above mentioned spool must be for the 100 foot film roll because there is only about 1.0 mm clearance between the spool ends and magazine wall at one point. Please keep us posted!

A little more info: The Keith frame size is 6cm x 8.4cm,..... Just a little larger than the 23 Graphic holder for 120 film... which is 5.8cm x 8.3cm. That is why the Keith stays in storage and I use 120 film with my 2x3 backs.

Question... Has anyone tried using another maker's cassette in their 70mm magazine? The Hasselblad cassette looks very similar to the ones available now on eBay. The auction I'm mentioning has a starting price of more than $900.00.

That is great that you found the cassettes for your RH-50, and there is a standard cassette.
The eBayer mentioned is selling off all his medium format gear. It's still an unreasonable price.

Yes, Nick, those cassettes are all interchangable. They came from Kodak, Hasselblad, and, before that, Linhof. I suspect Kodak was the manufacturer.

I have a graflex xlrf and managed to get a great deal on 3 RH50 backs with film cassettes included. BUT---the backs don't have the necessary part for mounting directly on the XLRF body. The part I need looks like a frame with the 4 steel pins that mesh with the camera body. If anyone has one or more of these (or even knows what I'm talking about) any help would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

What you are looking for is called an xl Graflok Back. They offered it in two versions: #7304 w/o the focusing panel, and #7305 with.

Check around. They are out there. Pacific Rim often has them, as well as MidWest Photo.

Thansk for the part numbers and I'll look into it but my XL already has a graflok back attached. This back accepts standard RH film backs. But it seems to me that the graflok back is removed from the XL, and then the RH50 is mounted directly onto the camera, in exactly the same way as the polaroid is mounted to the XL(and different from the other RH backs). The "rack" I refer to screws onto the film back, and mounts onto the camera body in the same way the graflok back does--4 pins that are locked into place. Thansk again.
