I've finally dug out my old 4x5 Speed Graphic again, and was wanting to find a lens hood to shoot with, and a UV filter to store it with. I've measured the lens as best I can, and it seems to be about 40mm., but the S.K. Grimes directions left me a bit mechanically-challenged. It's a Zeiss Jena Tessar f4.5 150 - can anyone confirm, deny, or otherwise correct my 40mm filter size guess before I order things by mail?

Well I don't have that lens, but I do know tat 40.5mm was a common filter size. My 135 Xenar and some other lenses including some lenses from Leica i think.

Now why they picked 40.5mm is a different question

I do have that lens on my View, but unfortunately do not have any screw-in filters for it so I can't offer anything but the mic'd dimensions. 40mm inside and 42mm outside. You might be able to find a 42mm push on series VI adapter, which is what I'd like t find... Whether or not the 40mm inside equates to a 40.5 or 41mm filter is beyond me. I have the 'how-to' someplace on the hard drive...somplace

If you find out for sure, post it here cause I'd like to know!

Hello, I own a speedgraphic with a Kodak Ektar 127/4,7. Where can I get a slip on filter adapter and wich one. The outer diameter is 38mm or 1 1/2 inch.Anybody can help me? I like to use Polarizing filter and shade.

Many thanks for your answers. But I still have a problem. What means slip on to series 6 filter? Will I have the posibility to screw on filters to this adapter and what size of screw on filters will I need or can I use? Specialy I will use a polarizing filter. As my Speedgraphic is not a reflex I have to put it on and off to my lens. Is this posible with this adapters?

You need the 38mm /1.5" to Series VI slip on adapter made by the truck load in the 50s. The easiest for you might be ebay, they show up there quite a bit. Or any old camera store that has a junk drawer.

hi,
i needed the same thing a couple of months ago...a 38mm 1-1/2inch slip-on to series VI as Les describes....i made an inquiry here (i think its in the accessories section) then i went to work locating it.
anyway, i found the adapter,retaining ring and even a few filters in just one call to Midwest Photo Exchange in Columbus,OH. check out this site for the phone# and give a call:

they may also still have quite a few of similar smaller Graphic gadgets that aren't on their site or listed in their Shutterbug ads.

To follow up on my earlier question, a 40.5 filter did indeed fit my lens....
