Hi all, I am new to this forum and am trying to put together a speed graphic set up.
Kodak has discontinued the double sheet readyloads for a single sheet system. on their web site they state:
Will the new Single-Sheet Packets work in my current Kodak holder?
Yes. For best results, use the READYLOAD Single-Sheet Packets in a KODAK READYLOAD Film Holder with a black pressure plate or the new KODAK PROFESSIONAL Single-Sheet Packet Film Holder, CAT 893 7542.
http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/films/readyload/qAndA.jhtml
My question is this: Are there readyload holders out there that don't meet this criteria?
Thanks
Mark

I'm certainly not an authority on Ready loads, but I do remember when they came out, Kodak had problems with film flatness, and I think they were even quietly recalling the first generation.
What those early holders look like ti don't know, but with ebay constantly turning the compost pile I'm sure they turn up.

I'll post this on the large format list serve and see what happens.

I've gotten one reply so far:
My first generation Kodak holder has an aluminum pressure plate. Works
fine with Fuji products, never had a failure. Kodak 2-sheet envelopes
lost about every third envelope. Now I use the polaroid 545 back, have
not had any failures with it, but have not run through much Kodak
product yet.

I saw a thread somewhere where it was mentioned that Kodak would repair/ retrofit an older readyload for free. I wonder if this is still true. If so, then this could be an good way to pick up a good deal. |

I don't think so Mark. I bought one of the first Readyload holders. A dog! Then, Kodak introduced the "new and improved" one. I don't remember the details, but I did receive a new, replacement from Kodak. As I recall, that was a limited offer. |

Here is the response I recieved from Kodak:
Mark,
No, there were no recalls or offers to modify double-sheet Kodak
Readyload Holders. The Kodak Double-Sheet Readyload Holder with
matte-black pressure plate is compatible with the Kodak Single-Sheet
Readyload Film Packets. The Kodak Single-Sheet Readyload Holder is only
available with a matte-black pressure plate.
