Just wanted to confirm the probable cause of the symptoms I am seeing are that the camera parts need some proper adjustments. Sorta a yes or no thing..
When pulled out to the infinity stops, the lens can not focus to infinity.
Cleaned the rangefinder and can actually see through it!!
The split views images do not align mostly vertically or horizontally. The lever seems to move easily, but the travel will not align the images.
Will be able to look up the procedures if this is a "yes" answer.
Thanks for the confirmation!! |

Hello Henry,
Basically am I doing something wrong or are there mechanical issues that require adjustment and/or calibration. Are they the same issue or multiple issues. Yes means that I have some work to do looking up the procedures to fix it. |

Hmm. Lessee now.
Start by pulling the front standard to the stops and moving the bed as far back as it will go.
Lens focuses through infinity, the bed must be moved forward to focus at infinity and closer. Stops too far back.
Lens is focused at infinity. Stops where they should be.
Lens won't focus to infinity, will focus closer than infinity. Stops too far forward.

You don't take direction at all. I'm done with you. |

Not 100% sure what you mean. I have been reading that online list as you directed. This is not the only thing I am thinking about and I wanted to make sure that I had the described issues and I wasn't missing something simple.
So I asked the questions to confirm that I had not, so I could deep (for me), dive into the fascinating world of stuff I've never really thought of before.
I will take your reply as a confirmation and I will go back to investigating through the links until I find the appropriate measures to take. I did run into the manual and stuff already. Mainly concerned as previously noted with the dang infinity stops.
You've been a help no doubt and sorry you have seemingly bailed.
Thanks for your assistance

Finally got the idea and courage to set the infinity stops. If the new pictures come out well on the 22 Graflex Roll Holder, I am good to go. The rangefinder can wait. I want to learn to use the camera now.
Could not have done it without the help I've gotten on the forum. Lot to learn. |
