Is there a source for replacement bags for the venerable bagmag?

Have never found anyone to replace these bagmag pouches in my 20+ years of restoring
Graphic or Graflex cameras---have with some good, some poor results made new ones myself, but takes a lot of time! Bert

A bag mag is the common name for a Graflex film magazine. they were the fore runners of the Grafmatic. It's essentialy a box with 12 to 18 sheets of film in a stack, a pull lever got the exposed sheet out of the front and into a side bag and you carefully put it in the back of the stack.

And when they work, they're lots of fun!!!. I'm going to try replaceing a bag with black-out cloth, I'll let you know...

hi there
i had a bag mag that was in need of repair. i took the old leather off of the box, and brought it to a leather repair shop - or a shoemaker. anyhow, he made me a new leather piece and it is beautiful! has been in use since 1997, with no problems, leaks or signs of wear!

if i can find the name of the guy that made it for me, i'll post it.

Okay, so here's my question: just got my own bag mag, after some tentative playing around it works great... can't wait to use it. Need to replace the bag, will try maybe making my own (I have plenty of time and plenty of supplies). Probably I'll get lazy and send it out to have a replacement made. How was the bag removed? Simply removing the screws from the metal retaining pieces? Nothing in life's ever that simple, it seems. Anyone have any exploded views to share?

Has been a few years since I worked on a bag mag but.....as I remember, the bag is attached with tacks....you just have to remove enough brass retainers to get to them! Not complicated to work on, just takes some patience, and something safe to store all the screws and parts in!! Bert

The last post to this was some time ago and I was wondering if any one out there knew of someone who will repair these bag mags. I have four of them and three of them need new leather and some tweaking.

If you have shoe repair shops in your area you might check with them about the bags. Getting leather that's the right weight and so forth is more of a problem than anything. Saddle shops, upholstery shops, shops that specialize in leather clothng and handbags are also possibilities. Browse thrift stores for leather articles like purses, chairs, etc for a good supply of leather. A seamstress can make bags out of rubberized cloth available from Porter's. (porters.com?) I have made one replacement of my own and found out, though it fits and works, that I'm certainly not a seamstress. I don't think I want to try that again.
