Can anyone document this?
"When a New York Times photgrapher was killed covering a race because his face was in the focusing hood and he did not see an oncoming car a New York Times directive was issued: No more Graflexes so the Speed Graphic was adopted."

Take a look at the home page tpoic Cameras. https://graflex.org/cameras/
You will find that Graflex SLR's were made from sometime in the 1800's (start date not known but likely 1893 or 1894) until 1957 for the 4x5 RB Super D and 1963 for the 3x4 RB Super B possibly a typo for Super D under the Major Products List: https://graflex.org/graflex-products-list.html
The Graphic Camera list https://graflex.org/speed-graphic/graphic-models.html
shows Speed Graphics from 1912 to 1970.
The reported introduction of the Speed Grahic was from a press photographer who wanted a camera of the type. Good old demand provoked the supply.
The Speed Graphics are so good that you can put the lens to your eye, think of a scene, trip the shutter, and get a perfectly exposed negative of tha scene youwere imagining. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Thanks! But curious that the author himself doesn't even give the correct URL!
Makes one wonder.... |
