|
|
HI all!
I'm VERY new to large format. What I'm looking to do is I'm sure quite easy.
I'm looking to use 120mm film with my crown graphic (Graflok back) However I don't want to spend a lot. In fact I'd quite like to be able to use a roll back I already have.
Could I fashion a board of some sorts to fit a back onto? Or am I way off the mark?
Cheers, and sorry for possibly not getting it!

An adapter board to fit a RFH of one camera format size to another is not that hard to do. Going from a 2x3 format to 3x4 or 4x5 will be easier than going 4x5 down.

My girlfriend has an RB67 which I can use the back off. But I'm happy to buy anything that would probably be easier
Cheers! |

The Crown came in 3 formats, which do you have? The RB RFH will fit the 2x3 Crown without any camera modifications. The RB Pro S RFH will need the lockouts disabled (taped to the not locked position) to work fully. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

I have the 4x5 size. I know the tabs you're talking about and that seems like a pretty simple thing to do. |

Also, what is the cheapest option for doing this? Could I buy like an old kiev 88 back and make that fit? |

Graphic made RFH for their cameras.
The Graphic 22 and Graphic 23 pictured in this a
http://www.cameraeccentric.com/html/info/graflex_1.html
and the RH series
http://www.cameraeccentric.com/html/info/graflex_13.html
all of which were made for 4x5 format graflok backs and currently sell for $125 to $150 on ebay.
The RFH camera side dimensions are:
4.765 inches wide; 121.04mm.
6.788 inches long; 172.42mm
The film pressure plate is .197 inches from the face of the RFH; 5.0038mm. (Industry standard).
The outer most light trap rib is .448 inches from the darkslide end; 11.39mm. The inner most light trap rib is 1.228 inches from the darkslide end; 31.19mm. The outer light trap rib is .065 inch wide; 1.66mm, the inner .095 inch; 2.41mm. These should be the same as a standard two side sheet film holder.
Cut a piece of thin plywood or hardboard to fit the back opening then cut out the center so that the RFH fits and the film plane/pressure plate is at the correct depth from the face of the adapter. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |
