What was the origional color of the leather on the 3A?

Charles,

Both my early and late versions are black leather, the standard Graflex pattern Moroccan leather. The only other variation to my knowledge was the early US Signal Corps version covered in smooth (no grain) brown leather. If you have one of those I'll give you $100 for it right now

This one appears to be Dark Brown faded to lighter Brown in places, has a distinct grain pattern, and is the autographic version.

Your offer is 1/5 to 1/10 of what the owner would consider.
