Hello To All!
OK I just bought a polaroid 405 film holder off of ebay. Good piece of equip, BUT it won't fit my camera. What I am having issues with is the term 4x5. My camera is an R. B. Auto Graflex, and the film size is 4x3. The actuall holder size that it takes is a 4x5 holder. So I wen't out looking for a 4x5 polaroid back. I then figured out that the polaroid 405 holder was a 4x5 holder. So then I bought one. I tried to put it on my camera, but it wouldn't fit. The actuall plate that hooks onto the camera was like 5x6 in. That just got me all confused. I am stuck trying to figure out if I'm just mentally challenged or 4x5 is marketing!

I am also wondering if polaroid or someone else made a 4x5 (PLATE SIZE) polaroid film holder. I really hope someone can help. Thanks!

4x5 is the film size. The actual dimensions of the film holder for any format will be larger.

The polaroid back that you mentioned will only fit a 4x5 camera.

There are no polaroid backs for 3-1/4x4-1/4 cameras.

All Graflex SLR cameras came from the factory with Graflex backs. A Graflex back will not accept standard film holders.
I have not heard of any Polaroid film holders for Graflex backs.
