I just got a Graflex Flash (Catalog # 2773). It's in very nice condition with one exception. I had a super hard time getting the battery cap off until I heald the bottom in boiling water. The cap came off easily. How do you suggest I get the corroded batteries out. Once out what's the best way to remove the corrosion? Any suggestions?

I'd remove the other (flash bulb) end, and tap on the frozen batteries with a wooden dowel/hammer. It might help to spritz some Power Lube (formerly CFC-556, spray can, auto store---NOT WD-40!!) from above and below around the battery carcasses first. Eventually, with patience and persistence, they should bust loose.

Some specialized battery stores sell a spray for use in avoiding corrosion. Once the batteries are out, that would be good for neutralized the acid left behind. Be aware, however, that such corrosion didn't do the battery contacts on the caps [either end] any good. There may be no way to save it if it has gone too far. Good luck.

WD-40 is not a lubricant; it's a Water Dispersal (WD) agent.
