Has anyone successfully repaired split or splitting septums? I've got several 5x7 septums that are just beginning to crack. |

While I have never seen a cracked septum, much less had to repair such a crack, I would handle it this way:
> drill a small hole at the end of the crack to discourage further propagation
> fit the edges of the crack together, and bond them using thin CA. Clamp the repair flat from both sides, using waxed paper to avoid bonding the clamps to the metal.
> scrape off any excess CA using a razor blade
I have used the thin CA to repair cracks in darkslides, but the thin metal of the septum may present challenges. Where are the cracks? if they are in the flat area I think my repair would work, but if they are on the edges you may be out of luck.
How about posting a photo of the cracked septum? |

The split is along the side rails. I'm going to try super glue gel. |

I tried super glue gel, and it seems to have worked. I don't know how long it will last, though.
I think CA refers to cyano-acrylate, or super glue. |
