Hello, I'm entering the world of speed graphic shooting, and also wanting to try shooting some flash stuff.
Are there any flashes for the speed graphics that don't require the bulb to be replaced after every shot? I've been thinking about ways to modify the flash that I have with my speedgraphic to become a re-usable strobe, but I can't think of any ways that wouldn't add alot of weight, or ways that would retain at least part of the 'vintage look' of the old flash.
The flash I have is a "Heiland Synchronar flash gun", and my camera is an anniversary 4x5 speed graphic.
Any ideas? Thanks! |

Learn to use the Search function on this board, Daniel. There are lots of previous posts on this subject. Look for discussions involving the mounting of electronic flash heads on top of the Graflex battery tube. For this operation, the reflector for flash bulbs is removed and a mounting fixture is attached to the top of the battery case. It has a 1/4" screw in it which you can use to mount an electronic flash.
Happy searching. |

Thanks for your reply. I did do a quick search before I made the initial post, but didn't find anything of interest. I'll try some more search phrases tonight |

Some of the early electronic flash units were introduced while the Pacemaker Speed Graphic was in production.
Many of the "Strobonar" units can be mounted to a Speed with the same clamps as used on your "Heiland Synchronar" and the "Graflex Syncronizer" flash units.
I'm sure that some of these electronic flash units were used with Anniversary Speed Graphic cameras when the flash units were first introduced.
