The photo below shows three variations on how Graflex strengthend the hinge joint between the swing out section and the telescoping sections on the Crown Tripod.
The second leg shows my F&S Division-made Crown banded in brass. Are all DIvision marked tripods brass bound? or just the larger models? (This one is a No 3)
What about Folmer & Schwing Department of Ekc tripods are they brass bound?
The top set of legs shows a feather used to reinforce the joint (a piece of wood with its grain running perpendicular to the leg) This on is a Folme-Graflex version. Does anybody have a Graflex Inc version? is it feathered too? thanks for helping me out on this one.
Is there yet another way Graflex treated this joint?

Les, FWIW, my Crown no. 1 (Folmer Graflex Corp.) is made just like the top one in your photo. |

I have a #1 tripod, just like the top one in the photo, but it is marked "GRAFLEX Inc" |
