So I just bought a Graphic 23 roll-film back, but unfortunately, the thing has no dark slide. What's my best recourse? I'm thinking about picking up a cheap 4x5 holder and cutting down the slide to fit. Is this a stupid idea?
Thanks! |

Offically, darkslides were made in many different sizes, all slightly different, but in reality your idea is a good one. Try to find a holder about the same age as the roll back. Another source is a pack film adapter. |

Great, thanks! Any advice for the actual cutting? Xacto, etc?
As an alternative, what are the odds that, if I picked up an old 2x3 holder, the slide would work on the 23? |

| Is your holder a sheet film holder or a roll holder? I ask because I just did the experiment and the dark slide from a 2x3 Film Pack Adapter goes right into my RH-8. So an FPA might hold what you want.
Good luck, have fun,

It's a Graphic "23" 120 roll-film holder, the old-school kind that no one likes with the wind-up advance. It looks like the RH-8 isn't as wide across the back as the old 23, so the slide from the FPA might not work, but I could be wrong. |

I've successfully used a dark slide from a 2x3 cut film holder. It measures a tad less across the small dimension than a stock rollfilm holder dark slide, but I've had no light leak problems with it. |
