Can someone tell me what Polaroid back I would need to utilize with FUJI FP-100 4x5 instant film? I am using a Graflex Super Graphic, with what I believe is a Graflex back.
Thanks!

You can use the Polaroid 405 pack back with this film, I have also heard the 555 back will work as well, but have not confirmed this, I have always used the 405 back on my various cameras.

Are you sure it's the 405 back? I thought FP-100 4x5 packfilm fit in the Polaroid 550 back whereas regular FP-100 (3.25 x 4.25) packfilm uses the 405 back? Isn't FP-100 4x5 the same size as the recently discontinued Polaroid 5xx packfilm? |

I am positive, I have 20 boxes of FP100 and it is the same film we used in the shop I worked for to take Passport fotos, but it is made in other sizes as well. I am sure we are talking about the same film, just in the different sizes, of course I may be confused, but many call the pack film designed for the 405 4 x 5 pack film....

The confusion is that there are two Polaroid backs that will work with the 4 x 5 format. The 5xx series goes way back to the 1960s and uses one size film, the 405 back is more recent and uses a somewhat smaller format, and the image is not centered in the 4 x 5 area. For Fuji and Polaroid, the film for the 5xx backs runs $3-$5 per shot, while for the Polaroid 405 back, film cost is about $1 per shot. My personal opinion is that the Fuji color rendition is much better than Polaroid's. I hadn't heard about the discontinuation of the Polaroid film, but I wouldn't be surprised given the growing digital camera market.

The film that I have for my 405 has not been discontinued accourding to the fuji rep at PMA, in fact he stated they had just improved the formulation and had committed to keeping it current for at least another 5 years, this was directly from Fuji as told to me by them at the show.
Sorry had to edit, I am getting confused with this thread, I knew the polaroid brand had been discontinued, but read it as the fuji had been discontinued, man time for bed, to much glass grinding lately I guess lol

Part of the confusion is that unlike Polaroid, Fuji uses almost identical product numbers/names for their instant film. There's FP-100c45 which is the larger 4x5 packfilm and FP-100c (without the 45) which is 3.25 x 4.25. I just checked B&H and FP-100c45 is still available, but as Joe pointed out, it's over three times more expensive than it's smaller brethren.
Fuji does specify a different holder for the "45" films, which leads me to believe that FP-100c45 will not fit the 405 holder.
Thanks,
Rachel

You are indeed correct the FP-100c45 will not fit the 405, the pack film is the film that works in the 405.

If the FP-100 film is not centered in the 4x5 viewfinder, is it not a good idea to use this arrangement for test shots before a 4x5 film is used?? |

I have traced the outline on all of my ground glass screens so I know exactly where the FP-100 falls, so I know how to compose without a problem.
Been using them for years without a problem.
