...first, let's hope I get the camera back type names correct. Anyone know if Polaroid ever made a film back that would accept 4x5 film like Type 55 that would be compatable with the Graflex (Non-spring, non-Graflok) back? I've occasionally seen images of something looks like a 545 back out of the stone age, but never found a name for it... don't know if that's one, but gee wouldn't it be nice if they did and they were out there and cheap?

The 545 holders and the newer 545i fit under a spring back and you can use type 55 film in them. These holders are pretty inexpensive on eboy.

Yep, but the 545's would be too narrow for the Graflex back. I'm not sure about the dimensions, the the Gralfex takes holders that are something like 1/4 inch wider than standard film holders.
As far as I know, there's no Polaroid sheet film holder for a Graflex back. But I could be, and commonay am, wrong

Sorta figured I wouldn't be lucky enough to have a polaroid back works with a graflex. On the other hand, I use the polaroids a lot less now that I use the soft-focus lens. Maybe if I find a polaroid back for cheap, I might be able to modify it with a few strips of brass and some epoxy to fit into the back. Who knows.

Sorry guys - I misread the question. That's what happens when your mind starts to go. I don't suppose it would be too awfuly hard to modify a 545 to make it fit.

So here's a follow-up: anyone know of any rollfilm backs would fit on the Greflex back? I'm watching a Graflex "23" 120 film holder for 4x5, but don't know if it's actually for the graflex back, or just called "graflex."

The original roll holders for the Graflex back use long discontinued film sizes. They were model 1915. The one you are looking at is most likely for a Graflok back, if it's a 23. |

Okay, good to know... I've seen some of the old-style roll-film holders on ebay and have considered getting one just for the novelty of buying some of those defunt film sizes from the specialty shops. So I will assume that if the description in an eBay listing says "graflex" then it refers to the camera and not the back. If I find one cheap enough though, I may just go for it.
