I read on this website that people have converted 4x5 film holders into 3x4 by shaving them down. Has anyone had experience with this? Any advice if I try it?
Thanks! |

I don't think you will have much luck doing that. The 3X4 holders are only slightly larger than a sheet of 4X5 film. You wouldn't have anything left. 3X4 holders are readily available. It just takes a little hunting. Watch eBay, of course, and try Pacific Rim Camera, Keh.com, Midwest Photo Exchange, etc. If you need the old slotted holders for the Graflex (not Graphic) back, they will be harder to find.

Maybe you were hearing about Polaroid backs. The 4x5 Polaroid 405 back and be milled down to fit. But it takes a lot of work.
