I have reently acquired a Pacemaker Speed Graphic (side rangefinder) that came with a Heiland Synchronar flash. I am a child of the hot shoe era, so I'm a little confused about how to connect my flash. The camera also has a Kalart Focuspot. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Also, The set didn't come with a mount for the flash. Can anyone here tell me where to get the mounting hardware of how to fashion a reasonable facsimile? Help me save another classic flash from the ******** fanatics. |

Well, lets see:
You'll need a bracket on the camera and a mount on the flashgun to mate with the bracket. Heiland made several brackets (70 and 76 series)that mated to a pair of rings on the flashgun. They also made a thumbscrew bracket that slid onto the mounting rail on the rangefinder. You'll also need a synch cord, the type of which will depend on your shutter.
As to finding all these bits and bobs, good luck. Camera shows, old camera shops, auctions and estate sales, and the evil eBay are all sources. You also might want to try http://www.southbristolviews.com/ where some of us swap, trade, and sell gear.

I have all the cables. All I need is a means to mount the flash on the camera and some instruction as to which plugs into what.
There is a metal strip attatched to the rangefinder. Could I use small belt clamps as an emergency fix? |
