I'm just getting started with traditional medium format photography and have acquired a Century Graphic with a 103mm lens and a "23" 6x9 roll film back. Unfortunately there is no mask in the viewfinder. I was hoping someone could advise me as to which one I need; any help would be greatly appreciated... |

According to the book, the standard mask for the 103mm would be a number 2. I think that the 6x9 is so close to 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 that they made no special masks for that, or at least not listed in the book...
For a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 (6x6) it would be a number 12...

Thanks for the information; now I'll be able to actually see what I should be photographing...
I really appreciate it! |

Hi Dvonk.........
Have a look here:
http://graflex.org/speed-graphic/viewfinder-masks.html
If you utilize the SEARCH function of this helpboard and do a "viewfinder mask" keyword search, you should see where these have been discussed before.
With my 135mm lenses I use a #4 mask for 4x5
With my RH-10 back on the 45 Crown or SSG I use a #10 mask for 6x7 format.
AFAIK (from following these boards) Graflex didn't make a 6x7 specific mask so the #10 mask with a 135mm is as close an approximation as I think I will ever get, but yes the #10 mask is right if you're using a 6x9cm (2.25 x 3.25-inch) roll-back.
